About Dr. Uzma Sarwar

Dr. Uzma Sarwar is a Dermatologist & Aesthetic Physician at Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences. She is heading the department of Dermatology. She is a Fellow of the College of Physician & Surgeons in the subject of Dermatology. She is a dynamic dermatologist with a track record of delivering exceptional patient care with compassion.

Dr. Uzma Sarwar has completed her MBBS from King Edward Medical College, Lahore. After her MBBS, she pursued for fellowship from College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) and completed her internal medicine and later Dermatology residency from Mayo Hospital/King Edward Medical University, Lahore to finally complete her FCPS Dermatology in 2012.

To learn and practice the latest trends in Aesthetics, she completed her certification and later Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine from American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, USA in 2015.

She has expertise in performing all dermatological & aesthetic procedures. She has established the state of art LASER & Aesthetic Clinic in Shalamar hospital in 2019 and successfully running the clinic.

She has international certification in medical teaching ICMT from CILT which is affiliated with Shifa University, Islamabad & University of Liverpool, UK.

She is the accredited supervisor of CPSP for post graduate training in dermatology and has seven trainees under her direct supervision in year 2023-2024. She is the examiner and paper setter at CPSP.

She recently completed Certification in Clinical Research Design from LUMS in May, 2024.

She has attended various national and international workshops and courses related to Clinical Dermatology, Aesthetics, Clinical Teaching and Research.

Moreover, she has Organized and Facilitated various Hands on workshops & symposia in dermatology, aesthetics and research in her own institution.

She has multiple research publications in peer reviewed journals.

Prior to joining Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences in September 2012, Dr. Uzma Sarwar was working as Senior registrar at Dermatology Department, Mayo hospital / King Edward Medical University, Lahore.

She is a skilled clinician, keen researcher, trainer of FCPS dermatology and a mentor for undergraduate and post graduate students.

Dr. Uzma has keen interest in research and is actively involved in the research proposals of post graduate trainees which includes proposal writing, conduction of study, dissertation writing and later publication in peer reviewed journals.

She has recently completed Certification in Clinical Research Design from LUMS in May, 2024.

She has numerous research publication in peer reviewed journals. Recently she worked on antifungal regimen in resistant and recurrent cases of superficial cutaneous dermatophytic infections. Ongoing research projects includes treatment of superficial cutaneous dermatophytic infections with newer topical antifungals like sertaconazole and oxiconazole, treatment of acne with new topical drug; dapsone and comparative treatment of alopecia with traditional and newer topical formulations.

  • Dr. Uzma’s clinical practice is based on the latest guidelines and evidence-based practice. Multidisciplinary approaches are integration where needed.
